modern advertisingBusiness understand that many forms of advertising exist, and they all have their positives and negatives. The intent of posting the “Majors” here is to compare and contrast the positive and negative of each, in addition to that I would also like to explore how different forms of advertising work hand & hand with each other.

Understanding how your customers buy from you should be the starting point of any marketing endeavor.  The way that consumers buy has fundamentally changed with the availability of technology in the palm of your hand, and the volumes information available on the internet.  Before you decide what form of advertising you want to buy, consider your businesses consumers “Zero Moment Of Truth.”  This shift, in the way your consumers purchase goods and services from your business might just cause you pause in your current advertising thought process. Creative media is a form of advertising that is used to obtain consumer attention and provoke shoppers to purchase or use a specific product. It is also very good at building brand recognition. Generally speaking, News Papers, Radio, TV, Billboards, Magazines, and Internet Display are considered creative advertising. This form of advertising is also called intrusive because of the nature of them being there even when your not looking to buy. This targets consumers that are in the awareness stage of the buying cycle and is very helpful in pushing them in to the purchase or consideration or purchase cycle.

Directional advertising is very different, these are forms of advertising that are consumer driven.  Online Search, Yellow Pages, Classified Ads are all forms of media that a consumer uses on demand when they are ready to buy.  This is a very powerful form of advertising because the user is in the purchase cycle.
